Capturing the Beauty of America's Textile Industry
Christopher Payne is an American photographer who captures America's industrial architecture and landscape. He documents lost islands, forgotten buildings and what's hidden behind closed doors, whether it's a mental asylum, disused subway machinery or uninhabited islands. In the case of his most recent work Textiles, Payne celebrates the lost art of craftsmanship and manufacturing in the United States, with a rare glimpse inside some of the few functioning textile mills in Northeast America. Payne states that his series "aims to show how this iconic symbol of American manufacturing has changed and what its future may hold...whilst playing tribute to the undervalued segment of Americans who work in this sector."
